Pre-introduction issues

Revising review process to improve the quality of design reviews

As a company policy, we decided to work on quality improvement, and when we analyzed past problems, we found that "what could have been detected in the design review had been overlooked," so we thought it was important to improve the design review.
In the past, design-reviews were carried out without clear rules. there were differences in the recording methods of indications, such as recording in Excel or printing out and filling in with a red-pen.
In addition, various issues were found, such as the content of the review points not being accurately conveyed, the status of revisions and contents not being understood, and the pointed information not being closed within the project and shared with other teams.
We believe that the introduction of Lightning Review will enable us to accurately convey the information pointed out and establish a common understanding. And, it was also expected that the field improvement would advance from analysis and sharing based on the indicated information by the unified recording method.

Effects after introduction and comments from the field

The review process has been improved, and the field staff expressed their desire to use the information pointed out to make improvements

Since Lightning Review can share the pointed out content with images and texts, it is easier to share the recognition between participants.
The status of corrections can be seen by status, and the content is easy to read, making confirmation more efficient. In addition, by unifying the pointing out recording method, improvement in the field by analysis and sharing using pointing out data could be expected.
In addition, there was a voice from the development site saying, "We would like to make further improvements on the site based on the information pointed out in the review," and the working group decided to proceed with improvements.

Current activities and results

Young developers are processing the improvement cycle with utilizing data of indications on reviews

Originally, a working group was created to learn how to use Lightning Review and deploy it to the field, and young people were invited to participate. It was decided that this working group would promote improvement activities using the indicated information.
First, we decided to create a mechanism to automate the collection and classification of the indicated data. For data collection"Read Library of Review Files"Since it was easily realized by using it, the mechanism was completed immediately by just creating the data classification function.
This system makes it possible to immediately visualize trends based on the number of issues pointed out at any time.
In addition, for points that might lead to serious bugs, we analyzed why they were mixed in and shared them across the team. Based on the results of the reviews by other teams, we began to think of ways to prevent recurrence so that we would not introduce problems with the same cause.
In the case of Lightning Review, the points pointed out can be easily understood with images and text. This makes it easy to share information. This is also helpful.
As in these activities, young people at the development site have come to think about improvement activities voluntarily, and I can feel the growth of the organization as a whole.

Customer comments

It has been very helpful in the field because it has streamlined the work that used to be troublesome in design review activities, such as recording points and confirming the results of corrections.
In addition, activities that utilize the indicated data have fostered a culture of on-site improvement, which has produced positive effects in the field. Lightning Review has become such an everyday tool that we call it "LR" for short, and we can't let go of it.
I hope that it will continue to grow into a tool that is even easier to use and helps the field.
