The company develops embedded software for automobiles on a model-based basis, using MATLAB/Simulink ® for designing.
Most of the reviewed items were modeled as diagrams combining blocks. Screen shots were attached to Excel form to clearly indicate the points to be pointed out.

Indications cannot fully express the location and the of models (diagrams)

Review findings for models created in MATLAB/Simulink® were recorded in Excel forms. Unlike text or code, locations in a diagram cannot be described as “line X at ...,” making feedback difficult to communicate.
The team therefore captured screenshots, pasted them into Excel, and added callouts with comments. This was clearer than text alone, but significantly increased the effort required to create records.
To reduce effort, typographical and readability issues were corrected on the spot without being recorded. Although the remaining records were clearer, not every issue was retained, making it impossible to understand what kinds of issues occurred and how many.

With Lightning Review, tasks that were laborious in Excel became easy, and recording issues was no longer burdensome. A rich set of annotation tools, such as arrows, rectangles, and numbered markers, makes it easy to point to locations in diagrams and communicate feedback more clearly than before. The team can now retain records that previously had to be omitted and easily update status, enabling accurate issue counts and correction tracking.
Since it is easy to operate, it is also possible to classify indications, and it can be expected to be used for trend analysis and review of sufficiency in the future.
